How saving works

Every change you make in the editor is kept in your browser straight away, so nothing is lost if you close the tab. PageStax then saves your changes to your store in batches, which is what lets you pick up on another computer.

Saving a draft never changes your live storefront. Shoppers see changes only when you publish or push live.

When PageStax saves to your store#

Your changes are sent to your store automatically as soon as one of these happens:

30 seconds pass without a new edit;
you have made 25 changes since the last save;
your oldest unsaved change is 60 seconds old;
you switch to another tab or close the editor.

Quick edits to the same page — typing a headline, for example — count as one change.

Save now#

Press Save in the top bar, or ⌘+S (Ctrl+S on Windows). The shortcut works even while you are typing in a field. The Save button is greyed out when there is nothing new to save.

The save indicator#

Next to the Save button, the indicator tells you whether your store has caught up:

Indicator	What it means
Saved · 12s ago	Your store has everything.
Unsaved changes	Your changes are in this browser and will be saved to your store shortly.
Saving…	A save is in progress.
Offline — saved on this device	Your store can't be reached right now. Your changes are safe in this browser and will be sent when it is reachable.
Saved on this device	You are working without a store connection; changes stay in this browser.
Not saved to store — kept on this device	The last save failed. Hover the indicator to read why. Your changes are still in this browser.

Editing on two devices at once#

If someone else — another tab, a colleague, or an agent using psx — changes a page you also have open, PageStax merges the two page by page. Pages only you changed keep your edits; pages someone else changed take their version. You only get a message if one of your own edits could not be kept, and it names the pages affected.
