Undo and redo
Step back through your recent edits, and what to do when you want an earlier version of a page.
The editor keeps a history of your recent changes so you can step back and forward.
Undo and redo#
- Undo: press the undo arrow in the top bar, or ⌘+Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows).
- Redo: press the redo arrow, or ⇧+⌘+Z (also ⌘+Y / Ctrl+Y).
The buttons are greyed out when there is nothing to undo or redo. While you are typing in a text field, the keyboard shortcuts undo your typing in that field instead.
What the history covers#
- Up to the last 50 steps.
- Quick changes in a row (for example, several clicks on the same slider) are grouped into one step.
- Moving, adding, removing, hiding, restyling and renaming sections and elements can all be undone, including drag and drop.
The history is cleared when:
- you open a different page or variant;
- you reload the editor;
- your store has a newer copy of the page than your browser (for example, someone else edited it) and the editor switches to that copy.
Is there a version history?#
No. PageStax doesn't keep a list of earlier versions of a page that you can browse and restore. What you can do instead:
- Before a big change, duplicate the page. In Pages, press Duplicate on the page's card. The copy is an independent draft you can go back to.
- Your live page is safe until you publish. Edits are drafts; shoppers keep seeing the published version until you publish or push live.
- Deleting a saved section from the library can't be undone, but copies already on pages stay.
